Representatives of the PKD at the FGSV Congress

The representatives of the Polish Road Congress attended the German Congress of Roads and Transportation held between 12-14 September in Erfurt. PRC and FSGV cooperate in the field of exchange of technical knowledge in road engineering.

FGSV (Forschungsgesellschaft für Strassen und Verkehewesen - Road and Transport Research Society) is a public utility association, serving as a platform for developing and disseminating knowledge on roads for administration, business and academy. It has its secretariats in Berlin and Cologne. It prepares, together with experts appointed for this purpose, sets of technical rules for road engineering, updates them and publishes through its own publishing house (as part of commissioned tasks, carried out in agreement and paid for by the federal ministry). Every bi-annual Congress is attended by about 1,000 people. During the thematic sessions, the results of the latest research conducted by research institutions and the work of dozens of working groups operating within the Society are presented.

FGSV - like PKD in Poland - has the status of the National Committee of the World Road Association PIARC in Germany. Both associations have been cooperating with each other for several years, representatives of FGSV present their studies at the International Conferences "Silesian Roads Forum", they also participate in regular Polish-German road workshops organized by Poland’s General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways and German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. At the invitation of the president of the FSGV, Mrs. Elfride Sauerwein-Braksiek, this year's Congress was attended by representatives of the PKD: Piotr Heinrich - special envoy of the president Zbigniew Kotlarek, Wiesław Dąbrowski - member of the Managing Board in charge of international contacts and Tomasz Orłowski - acting Office Director.

The Congress took place at the Erfurt Trade Fair in the Thuringian capital. In addition to thematic sessions, participants could see the exhibition with the participation of many companies, present on markets throughout Europe. The organizers also prepared a rich program of accompanying events, combined with exploring the attractions of the historic old Erfurt.
